KLIS AND SINJ
Klis fortress was situated on a strategic defensive position and has therefore been one of the most prominent fortress in the region, known as the key of Dalmatia. It dates back to II.ct BC and built by Ilirian tribe Delmati. On tour of the fortress you will go back in time and learn about the most important events and people who ruled this area, all with beautiful views of the cities of Split, Solin, Kaštela and central Dalmatian islands.
After a short drive through the Dalmatian hinterland, the area has a colourful history and proud people, we will meet familiar town of Sinj, whose cultural archaeological sites dating back to prehistoric times. On field of Sinj in 1715 700 soldiers defended the city of Sinj and the Cetina region from the Turks, and this battle was a historic turning point for the entire area. Today Sinj stands out with its knight tournament Alka and Our Lady of Sinj. Walking through the city we will visit the Church of Our Lady of Sinj where the painting of Our Lady, adorned with gold, is exposed.Walk takes us to the Knights court until we reach the Museum Alka of Sinj, located in the Venetian apartment. Representative exhibition of specimens in the Museum are traditional costumes, equipment used by the knight Alkar and the story about what Alka means to the town and their people.
